Our story began with a shared concern for the environmental pressures facing the world's mountains. Conversations between mountaineer Fernando Peralta and founder Frédéric Kauffmann laid the foundations for The NeverRest Project.

Our story began with a shared concern for the environmental pressures facing the world's mountains. Conversations between mountaineer Fernando Peralta and founder Frédéric Kauffmann laid the foundations for The NeverRest Project.

The initiative took shape during the pandemic, bringing together expertise in science, engineering, technology and creativity. The Everest region became a starting point for exploring how environmental innovation could respond to the challenges of tourism in fragile ecosystems.

That work has shaped a wider direction: developing tools and partnerships that help natural destinations understand tourism's impact and create pathways towards regeneration.

Why we exist.

Our mission

To equip institutions and destination managers with the tools to measure tourism's environmental impact, guide decisions and connect visitor participation with conservation and regeneration actions whose progress can be tracked.

Our vision

A transition towards regenerative tourism, where visitors take an active role in caring for and restoring the places they visit. We envision tourism that contributes to healthier ecosystems and the wellbeing of local communities, helping to leave each place better than it was found.

What regenerative tourism means to us

Regenerative tourism means enabling visitors to contribute to the recovery of natural environments and the wellbeing of the communities connected to them. It brings together local priorities, responsible behaviour and support for restoration, with progress assessed over time.
